Tesla Go, Evo , Pro by Baumer hhs
8Eco-friendly gluing without compressed air or drivers!
“With innovative glue application guns, we have set new standards: reliability, productivity, ease of use and economy in the hotmelt market”, announced Percy Dengler, Managing Director of Baumer hhs, recently at the Interpack trade fair. The new hotmelt gluing head celebrated its 7th anniversary in three versions.
Baumer hhs, based in Krefeld, is also the leading manufacturer of industrial adhesive application systems and sensor- and camera-based quality assurance systems. The company was founded in 1986 and has employed around 350 people since 2022. Its turnover is in the solid two- to three-figure range. It offers a variety of solutions for applying white glue and hotmelt glue, including guns, pumps, melters and quality control systems which, in addition to the production of folding carton and corrugated board packaging, are also used in the fields of print finishing, wood treatment and special machinery. To optimise the application of Hotmelt glue, the “no-contact, no-air, no-driver gun” technology is revolutionary, replacing conventional electro-pneumatic application. The new ‘Tesla’ range stands out from electro-pneumatic guns not only for its robustness and reliability, but also for its environmental friendliness and safety: “We are setting new standards in terms of safety: less compressed air, less noise, less maintenance and less production downtime”.
Simple Plug & Play retrofit
With the Tesla Go range (compatible with brands other than Baumer hhs), it is possible to easily replace any existing Hotmelt gun with a simple “Plug & Play”.
Martin Kotecki comments: “With just a few simple steps, you can replace
the new Tesla Go and Tesla Evo. They can be integrated into all controllers / PLCs, so no further replacement is needed to adopt the new all-electric technology.”
The third option for high-speed applications is the Tesla Pro model, which is compatible with Baumer hhs controllers designed for very high production rates. “The extended viscosity and pressure range means it can be used in areas previously reserved exclusively for electro-pneumatics.”
The maximum frequency of 600 Hz “offers considerable scope for increased productivity and savings in glue consumption thanks to the ability to apply glue in dots without compromising the quality of the bond or the life of the gun,” says Mehdi Mezni, director of Baumer hhs’ French subsidiary, located in Civrieux in the Ain region.
However, it’s not just end-users who can benefit from the new Tesla guns, but also machine manufacturers who “can take advantage of the high reliability and productivity of this solution and offer their customers more efficient machines”, says Mezni.
The manufacturer explains the up to ten times longer service life of the new Tesla guns by the fact that, unlike electro-pneumatics, Tesla guns do not require dynamic seals, which are generally subject to heavy wear.
Avantages
The new Tesla family
- The new Tesla Go & Evo hotmelt application heads can be easily integrated into existing production lines using equipment other than hhs (melters, heating hoses). They can be controlled by any PLC, and require no control unit or driver.
- The Tesla Pro model is controlled by a Baumer hhs control unit and can handle high viscosities at bonding pressures of up to 80 bar.
- The manufacturer explains the longer service life of the valves by the fact that, unlike electropneumatic hotmelt guns, electromagnetic technology does not require dynamic seals, which are generally subject to heavy wear.
- Another important feature of all tesla models is the integrated overheating switch. For the first time, this meets the requirements for hot melt systems for packaging machines in accordance with the current safety standard DIN EN 415-10:2014, which is harmonised with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
- Noise emissions are also lower.
